We have bought the building!

On Friday 22 July, the purchase of the former St Columba's property was completed. CityLife Church now owns a building!

Citylife has big plans to serve the community in Inverness, but we often find ourselves limited by the lack of a permanent base. A building will enable us to expand our work with children, young people and families and to launch exciting new projects in areas such as creative arts and music.

The former St Columba's building is structurally sound but is in need of major renovation, including stonework repairs, replacement of windows and installation of disabled access and toilets. The total cost of the project is likely to be about £400,000, and CityLife has launched an appeal for £200,000.

This an exciting new step for our church, but the purchase is just the beginning! It is great to be able to keep the St. Columba's building for Christian and community use, but there is a lot of work to be done to make it a suitable home for a 21st Century church. We aim to transform the interior of this building to make it a great venue for church and a really welcoming place for the local community.

A church is not a building - it is people - but a building can be a great resource to impact a city. There is no doubt that this building will be a great challenge, but we believe that no challenge is too great for our God. We are not a large church, but we believe in thinking big! Unity is more important than numbers. The Bible tells us how Gideon overcame a great army with a relatively tiny band. At cityLife we share a common vision to make a difference in our city!

Until the building is in a suitable condition, CityLife Church will continue to meet at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel on Sunday mornings.
